We’re proud of what we’ve built. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to help us make it even better.
Why Muncie Primary Care?
We’re an established, family-owned practice that values our employees, our patients, and our independence. We’re proud of our history and equally excited about our future.
As our Director of Operations, you’ll have:
- The opportunity to shape the systems, culture, and future direction of an established practice.
- Competitive base salary
- Opportunity for an additional performance-based bonus.
- Monday–Friday work schedule.
- Health insurance.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Retirement benefits, subject to plan eligibility.
This Isn’t Your Typical Office Manager Position.
We’re looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Director of Operations who can serve as the second-in-command to our physician-owner and CEO, leading the day-to-day operations of our practice while helping us build a stronger, more efficient organization for the future.
This is a true leadership position focused on developing people, improving processes, strengthening accountability, overseeing financial and operational performance, and turning ideas into action.
What You'll Do
1. Lead Operations and Financial Performance
- Provide overall leadership and oversight of daily practice operations, ensuring that clinical and administrative departments work together efficiently.
- Identify operational challenges, develop practical solutions, and address issues proactively before they escalate.
- Oversee operational budgets, monitor expenses, review financial performance, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Work with designated team members responsible for administrative functions, technology, vendor coordination, and other business operations to ensure these responsibilities are managed effectively.
- Establish clear systems for delegation, communication, follow-through, and accountability.
- Ensure appropriate processes are in place for regulatory compliance, organizational policies, and operational risk management.
2. Lead, Develop, and Support Our Team
- Build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with employees across all departments.
- Develop departmental leaders, encourage professional growth, and help employees succeed in their roles.
- Foster a workplace culture built on mutual respect, open communication, teamwork, and accountability.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and support with difficult conversations and conflict resolution.
- Address employee concerns and interpersonal challenges fairly, promptly, and professionally.
- Work collaboratively with our Marketing/Human Resources Manager on recruitment, employee development, retention, and performance management.
- Strengthen communication and cooperation between clinical and administrative departments.
3. Improve Systems and Use Data to Drive Decisions
- Develop, monitor, and analyze Key Result Areas (KRAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), scheduling utilization, productivity, and other operational performance measures.
- Identify inefficiencies, evaluate workflows, and implement improvements that enhance patient access, employee satisfaction, and practice performance.
- Build systems that promote consistency, clear responsibilities, effective delegation, and measurable accountability.
- Use spreadsheets, dashboards, financial information, and operational data to identify trends and guide decision-making.
- Evaluate the results of operational changes and make adjustments as needed.
- Help create an organization where problems are identified early and addressed effectively.
4. Help Shape the Future of Our Practice
- Partner directly with the physician-owner and CEO on strategic planning, organizational priorities, and practice improvement initiatives.
- Translate long-term goals into practical action plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
- Explore opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and emerging technology to reduce administrative burden and improve efficiency.
- Take ownership of projects from initial planning through implementation and evaluation.
- Anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and bring forward thoughtful solutions and recommendations.
- Help balance the needs of patients, providers, employees, and the business while supporting the long-term success of independent primary care.
This Position Might be a Great Fit If….
- You’re a natural leader who enjoys developing people, building relationships, and helping teams succeed.
- You build trust and respect while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
- You’re proactive, resourceful, and comfortable making decisions, solving problems, and taking ownership of outcomes.
- You communicate effectively, navigate difficult conversations professionally, and foster collaboration across departments.
- You enjoy improving processes, building efficient systems, and finding better ways to get things done.
- You’re comfortable using financial information, spreadsheets, and performance metrics to guide decisions.
- You’re excited about new technology, including AI and automation, and enjoy working with an engaged owner who values initiative and independent thinking.
This May NOT Be the Right Fit If...
- You prefer a traditional office management role focused on completing daily administrative tasks.
- You’re most comfortable waiting for direction rather than taking ownership of challenges.
- You prefer maintaining existing processes rather than finding a better way to do things.
- You find it difficult to address employee performance concerns or navigate uncomfortable conversations.
- You tend to focus on identifying problems without taking responsibility for developing and implementing solutions.
- You aren’t comfortable using data, financial information, or technology to evaluate performance and guide decisions.
We recognize that no candidate will bring every skill or have every answer on day one. We’re looking for someone with the leadership ability, judgment, curiosity, and initiative to learn, adapt, and grow with our practice.
Qualifications
Required

- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to make independent decisions.
- Comfort with technology, willingness to learn new tools, and an interest in using data to improve operational performance.
Strongly Preferred
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, management, or a related field.
