Megan Zelasko, M.D.

Dr. Megan Zelasko grew up in the practice—literally.

Her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Steve and Cindy Allen, founded Internists Associated (now Muncie Primary Care), still in its present location, in 1981. Dr. Z, as she’s known to her patients, spent many an afternoon after elementary school filing medical records in exchange for Noble Roman’s breadsticks or rolling down the hallway on exam room stools with her brother after closing.

“I grew up having a strong interest in biology and science and knew by high school I wanted to go into medicine” she says. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at Indiana University, then served her internship and residency at Emory School of Medicine, where she was named chief resident and intern of the year among other honors.

Dr. Z joined Muncie Primary Care as a doctor in 2014, the same year her dad retired. Her mom, a nurse since the practice inception, now serves as its office manager, and Dr. Z too wears several hats as she transitions to taking over the practice.

What brought her back to Muncie? “

“Seeing the impact my parents have had on the community,” she says, “I enjoy working with patients who have known me since I was born and now I am caring for them, and their children and grandchildren.”

Married to Joey and mom to Anna and Olivia, Dr. Z loves Indiana University and University of Tennessee athletics, Colts football, reading, scuba diving, travel, Pilates and exercising.
