Ruth Human, FNP-C

Growing up, nurse practitioner Ruth Human wanted to be a veterinarian, but then, at age 18, she got sick and found herself in the emergency room.
“An amazing nurse there advocated for me and her treatment worked. Afterward, I felt so much better,” says Ruth. “That’s when I knew I wanted to be a nurse—so that I could advocate for patients.”

Ruth earned her master’s in nursing at the University of Indianapolis. She worked as a nurse practitioner in Indianapolis before joining Internists Associated in August 2021.

“I wanted to be a part of the solution by working in primary care and providing excellent preventative care and health screening services,” says Ruth. “I also wanted to help patients better understand their health and what things they could do to optimize their health and wellbeing.

“I love getting to know my patients and their families and helping them navigate the healthcare system. I love to teach patients about their health and managing their diseases.”

Ruth loves running and traveling—preferably to the beach. When not at work, you’ll find her spending time with her dogs and family.
